Working for us
The UK Permanent Representation to the EU offers employees a challenging, varied and interesting opportunity to work for an organisation that is involved in the heart of the decision-making process in the EU. Our daily work relies on the input of dedicated individuals who engage on many different topics and activities. We seek to employ candidates from a range of backgrounds and nationalities who bring their own talents to the role.
You can find out more information on our current team and the range of issues that we cover in the 'who's who' and 'what we do' sections of this site.
Civil service recruitment
Many of our staff are recruited from the civil service in the UK, not only through the diplomatic service, but from the full range of government departments. This reflects the importance that government departments attach to EU business. More information on the interesting and varied opportunities which a career in the UK civil service in the UK can offer, as well as information on how to apply, is available on our 'civil service recruitment' pages.
Local recruitment
Many staff in our teams have been recruited locally here in Brussels. We value the local knowledge and expertise that they bring to our organisation and they fulfill a wide variety of vital functions within UKREP. These vacancies are filled by open competition and are regularly advertised on the 'local recruitment' pages of our website. These pages may also include information on positions at the UK Embassy in Belgium and the UK Delegation to NATO.
Other opportunities in the EU
If you are interested in a career elsewhere in the EU, whether you are a looking for a traineeship, a new start or are a civil servant looking for a different role, you can visit our 'working for the EU' page for information on opportunities in the EU institutions.
EU staffing unit
We also have a team of staff at UKREP whose role it is to facilitate the entry of UK nationals to EU Institutions. They can provide relevant advice and guidance on applying to work with the EU and then can offer support to UK Nationals throughout their career in these organisations. Information on this team, including contact details can also be found on our 'working for the EU' page.
