Andy Lebrecht

Andy LebrechtAndy Lebrecht has been the UK’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the EU since January 2008. He sits on the Committee of Deputy Permanent Representatives (Coreper I) with counterparts from the other 26 Member States.  These representatives are responsible for dossiers such as transport, telecoms and energy, employment, social, health and consumer affairs, competitiveness, agriculture and fisheries, environment, and education, youth and culture.

Prior to joining UKREP, Andy was Director-General for Food and Farming in the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, where he gained significant experience of EU negotiations through his work on the Common Agricultural Policy. He has also worked at UKREP previously, between 1988 and 1989, when he handled fisheries and food policy. Like Kim, he has also worked as a Minister’s Private Secretary and he has dealt with his fair share of crises, notably as Regional Operations Director in Devon during the foot and mouth crisis there in 2001.

Andy was educated at De La Salle College, Hove and has a BA from Leeds University and an MSc from Reading University. He is married with 2 daughters.
